The Infected Toe

Sometimes it is so hard to do what is best for us. That which is MOST painful, MOST challenging, may be the MOST vital to our health and happiness. Not unlike the saying, "Cutting off your nose to spite your face." We are often faced with the prospect of cutting off the infected toe to save the foot. However when faced with the painful task of lopping off that toe, it is more than tempting to just put a sock and shoe on the foot and walk that bad boy until it gives out. What happens then is perhaps you begin to favor that side of your body and your back ends up going out... you may end up damaging your knee, or losing that whole foot, you could lose the whole leg. You could lose your life.

So is the case when we know that something in our live needs to be purged. Cutting out that person that is toxic to your health and happiness. Maybe it isn't even that heavy. Maybe they are just bad for your mood, or your wallet, or your reputation. You know how much it is going to hurt if you do it right now. So why not prolong the pain. I'll tell you why... because with every step you take on that infected foot... every time you accept that lie... every time you question yourself and doubt your intuition, you are damaging yourself. You are losing your foot. Losing your happiness. Losing your life.

So do you want it to hurt more now, or later? Not a fun choice to make. "Be true that this is no option" (coheed & cambria) The lyrics from the song "Welcome Home" say it better than I can. This is no option. Let the thing in your life be it a person, a thought pattern, or extra pounds, let that thing stick around because you are too lazy, too scared, or too selfish to get rid of it...and just know that you do so consciously to your own detriment.

A good friend told me something today... if there is one thing I deserve, if nothing else...it is loyalty. Because the one thing I am NOT is disloyal. I'm a leo, what can I say. I'm a lioness. I am fiercely loyal and I demand the same.. so disloyal, infected toe.. off with you!
